So today we set off to transfer the title of our mini-van; as I wrote before, it's taken me a year to get this done--because of the big sales tax to be paid.
Anyway, so we got everybody in the CAR--afterall, the "trip permit" didn't allow us to actually drive the VAN to the county for the actual title transfer. Maybe they expect you to take the bus--I don't know.
For those who live out of state, we here have the county offices and then a bunch of sub-contract stations for registering your car.
so we get down there, and lo and behold, the office is closed---they were on their "furlough," don't you know. That is, they had the day off due to budget cuts. Really annoying. And they keep electing....well nevermind.
So we go down to the "contract station, " where you get to pay an extra fee for their services, and find it has one teller, and at least a half hour's wait. So we decided to do it on Monday. Who knows, maybe the county workers will actually come to work that day!
The worst part is that: the guy I got the "trip permit" from- knew this was going to happen, and didn't say anything to me. And he seemed like such a nice, helpful young man....
you gotta love the DMV!
