I've begun to look at getting a used Honda Civic GX, which is Compressed Natural Gas powered. The emissions are supposed to be a lot lower than gasoline. With the help of a co-worker, I found out that there are indeed Natural Gas stations here in this metro area--one not far from work. There are not many used GXs out there--not like other cars; but there are a few, and of course Honda is still making it. It's amazing--these cars have been in production for many years.
Bonus--you get a $4000 tax credit if you buy a new one.
bottom line: these natural gas powered cars are a much better answer than electrics--afterall, the electricity has to come from somewhere--in some cases: coal, natural gas, or petro in the hybrid.
